Morganton Humanist Alliance

Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without supernaturalism, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity. The lifestance of Humanism—guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience—encourages us to live life well and fully. It evolved through the ages and continues to develop through the efforts of thoughtful people who recognize that values and ideals, however carefully wrought, are subject to change as our knowledge and understandings advance. The Morganton Humanist Alliance has a general information meeting the first Thursday of every month at 7 PM if you are interested in coming to see what we are all about (location changes so follow us on Facebook for updates). We also have a 2nd Thursday Gathering where we all meet socially (usually at a local haunt) to engage in discourse and general fellowship and a Family Outing Gathering for all ages to engage in family friendly fun (date and time varies on activity). Hello Humans,
For obvious reasons we have cancelled all upcoming public meetings. As we move forward during this important and unprecedented time, we'll keep you updated with (safe and socially distant) events that come up in the future. Until then, answer this...how has COVID-19 changed your day to-day-life?

In the National Statuary Hall in the Capitol Building in Washington DC, each State in the Union are allowed to donate two statues of citizens from their State. Currently both of North Carolina's statues are of Charles Brantley Aycock and Zebulon Baird Vance. The Governor of NC has requested the replacement of the Aycock statue due to his known white supremacist activities. The replacement statue would be of Billy Graham. He is considered to be one of the most influential shapers of the far right anti-LGBTQ political force. Please contact Governor Cooper and tell him to withdraw the request and chose a more deserving North Carolinian.
